Here are a few guidelines to follow when disposing empty jugs around the farm:
- Empty, nonreturnable pesticide containers must be triple-rinsed or its equivalent on the day of their use.
- Secondary use of such containers that would endanger humans, animals or the environment is prohibited. Pesticide containers must be disposed of in accordance with labeling directions.
- To avoid wastes, use all material in container before disposing, including rinsate, according to label directions.
- If wastes cannot be avoided, offer remaining product to a waste disposal facility or pesticide disposal program. Such programs are often run by state or local governments or by industry.
- All disposals must be in accordance with applicable federal, state and local regulations and procedures.
